Treatment of DCS patients by first responders

Around 500 emergency room admissions annually in the US relate to Decompression Sickness (DCS). Treatment for DCS is recompression in expensive hyberbaric chambers, following slow and controlled normalization of pressure conditions. Early intervention is crucial once the onset of DCS symptoms are detected, but limited to management of symptoms while quick evacuation. SIL Technologies research opens a new avenue for early treatment of DCS that will be applied in the field by emergency responders. Damage created by nitrogen bubbles causing the sickness will be avoided by splitting them in the bloodstream, forcing them to dissolve expeditiously.
